It is always a joy to provide wedding flowers at Tortworth Court for my wonderful couples. Nestled in the heart of Gloucestershire, this wonderful wedding venue provided the perfect backdrop for a truly romantic May wedding, filled with garden inspired floral designs and thoughtful details.
From romantic bouquets to stunning blush peonies and a glorious floral arch, this gorgeous, flower filled wedding is sure to inspire.
Their Floral Vision: Effortless Elegance with Garden Inspired Blooms
Cara and Dennis wanted their wedding flowers to feel effortlessly gathered, with a romantic, natural vibe that reflected the beauty of the season. Their florals were designed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for their guests and the soft blush, ivory, white and powder blue palette beautifully complemented the Orangery at Tortworth Court.
From the breathtaking floral arch to romantic bouquets and bloom-filled bud vases, every detail reflected their love of nature and thoughtful touches, making it a day to remember.
Creating the Floral Design: Soft Blush Peonies with White and Pale Blue
The designs were created to have a soft, romantic garden feel. I chose Princess Bride Peonies in a soft blush tone. These added a beautiful abundance and are the perfect flower for a romantic May wedding. Pale Blue hydrangea, White campanula, snapdragons and hesperis all worked together to create a wonderful garden feel. To add depth and texture, I incorporated oxypetalum, achillea, grasses and astrantia, giving the arrangements and natural, effortlessly gathered look.
Whimsical Bouquets and Boutonnieres
Cara asked for a whimsical, romantic garden-inspired Bridal bouquet with a beautiful suite of bridesmaids bouquets and elegant boutonnieres for Dennis and his ushers. I gave Cara’s bouquet a luxurious, natural look full of detail and movement. It was created using the most glorious mix of seasonal flowers including peonies, garden roses, nigella, campanula, scabious, hesperis, oxyetalum and grasses. I designed the Bridemaids bouquets as a smaller version of the bridal bouquet.
The boutonnieres were created using Royal Porcelina spray roses which have a lovely blush tone and oxypetalum to add a hint of pale blue.
The Showstopper: A Statement Floral Arch for the Ceremony
The statement floral arch was one of the highlights of Cara and Dennis’s wedding, designed to create a real “wow factor” for their ceremony. They opted for a full floral arch, which was a perfect choice to complement the curved dome of the Orangery at Tortworth Court.
The arch featured lush, garden-style floral arrangements at it’s base, with peonies, roses and spray roses cascading naturally over the arch, creating a captivating, rambling effect. It provided a stunning backdrop for their vows and framed the moment beautifully.
Reception Florals: Elegant Bud Vase Table Flowers
For the reception, I arranged elegant bud vases filled with seasonal blooms, clustered together to form simple and elegant centrepieces. For the top table, I created a delicate row of bud vases showcasing the choicest blooms, which added to the intimate feel of the celebration. Bud vases were also used to decorate key areas such as the cake table and card table, adding beautiful floral details throughout the venue.
