Welcome to my Summer Flower Guide. Here I will give you a run down of some of my favourite seasonal summer blooms that I love to include in my couples wedding flowers. It’s all about dreamy, abundant, gorgeousness when it comes to summer florals.
I love to use varieties such as garden roses, snap dragons, astrantia, lisanthus and scented stocks. These are available on the cut flower market throughout the year. I truly believe it is the imperfectly beautiful, wild natural nature of seasonal varieties that add that magic and personality to wedding designs.
Summer Wedding Flowers
Delphinium
Beautifully striking spire shaped blooms. Often seen in blue tones, these gorgeous flowers can also be seen in purples, pale pinks and whites. I love to use them to add impact in larger summer arrangments.
Sweet Pea
Perfectly delicate and hightly scented. They come in a beautiful range of colours from soft pale pinks and lavenders through to deep dark burgundy tones. I adore using these early summer flowers to add whimsical detail to bouquets and table centres.
Grasses
Chasmanthium, briza, miscanthus, there are so many beautiful varieties. I adore the delicate detail and movement that grasses add to bouquets and arrangments. They help give that relaxed, hazey, romantic feeling. Nothing speaks of summer more.
Peony
Beautifully abundant early summer blooms. From blousy double petalled varieties to more elegant and open single petals flowers they are all much loved and absulutely gorgeous. I love using them in bouquets, centrepieces and large arrangements taking centre stage.
Dahlia
So gorgeous with their large heads and abundance of petals. Dahlia are wonderful for creating a gorgeous summer garden feel to wedding bouquets and large floral displays. They are available in delicate ivory and the palest pink tones through to beautiful coral and orange.
Lysimachia
The daintiest of summer flowers. They have a beautiful pannicle shape perfect for adding subtle detail and a whimsical look to bouquets and table centres. I adore the dark burgundy tones, they are also seen in delicate white.
Scabious
So beautiful with their delicate nodding heads. Scabious are wonderful for creating a summer meadow look. They add lovely movement and interesting texture to bouquets and help give that wild and natural feel that my couples love. These little beauties are available in delicate, subtle shades from deep berry tones through to delicate lavender and blush.
Cornflower
They sweetest of summer flowers. Perfect for creating a wild flower meadow feel to designs. Usually seen in classic vibrant blue, they are also available in white, subtle pinks and deep burgundy tones. I love using them to add details to bouquets and table centres.
Achillea
This beautiful ancient flowering herb. It is seen in white, pink tones and yellows. Perfect for adding delicate detail and a wild, summer hedgerow feel to designs. I use it in boutonnieres, bouquets and table centres.
